If you’re anything like me, you get really excited about the Christmas season. I love Advent, and I pour a lot of energy
into it. So much so that by the time December 25th rolls around, I’m exhausted. Anyone else? After lunch on Christmas Day, it can feel like you’ve seen everyone, gone everywhere, coordinated everything... and you just need a
moment to breathe. We only do this once a year for a reason, it can take a lot out of us!
But it shouldn’t be that way, should it? This is supposed to be the most wonderful time of the year. Why should we end it feeling empty? What if a few small shifts in how we think and engage could change everything? What if this year you reached the end of the season with more energy, more clarity about what God is doing, and a greater
excitement for what lies ahead? I believe that’s exactly what God wants to do in us over the next few weeks.
That’s why we’re beginning a new series called “Filling Up Christmas.” Because we all fill this season with something, but often it’s the wrong things. Together, we’ll turn back to Scripture and to the way of Jesus, and rediscover a different, richer picture of what Christmas can be.
I hope you’ll join us each week as we journey through Advent together and let God fill this season (and our lives)
with His joy, peace, and presence.

As we enter this season of giving, we invite you to help share the love of Christ with children and families in our
community. Our annual Angel Tree is now available in the lobby with each tag representing a real child with real needs and hopes for Christmas.
Simply choose a tag, purchase the listed items, and return the unwrapped gifts to the church by the designated date.
Your generosity will make a meaningful difference and remind these families that they are seen, loved, and not alone. Thank you for being a church that shows the heart of Jesus in tangible ways.
HUMC will serve The Nightwatch Canteen Sunday December 7th. We serve a meal at two locations in downtown Sioux Falls from a van. We serve from 4:30pm until 6:00pm.
If you are interested, please contact Mark Noordermeer at (605)254-3916.
Mark your calendars for these great events coming up.
