A message from Pastor Brandon
Hello Church Family,

“God, what do you want to do in us and through us?”

This has become our daily prayer as a church this year. And as February begins, this prayer meets us at a meaningful moment in our life together. We are entering the season of Lent, a time when Christians intentionally slow down, reflect, and draw near to God. And this year, our Lenten journey will take us into the opening chapters of Leviticus.

Leviticus chapters 1–5 describe the sacrificial system of ancient Israel. While these practices may feel distant, their purpose was clear: to help God’s people draw near. These offerings were not about earning God’s love, but about creating space for honesty, repentance, gratitude, and trust. They were tangible ways of saying, “Everything I have comes from you, and I place my life back in your hands.”

Lent invites us into that same posture. It is not a season of proving ourselves, but of returning to God with humility, openness, and trust.

This posture also leads us into Consecration Sunday on February 8. On that day, we will be invited to prayerfully make commitments for our giving in the year ahead. These pledges are
spiritual acts of trust, one way we respond to our shared prayer:

God, what do you want to do in us and through us?

I believe the gospel spreads at the rate of our generosity. As we move through the upcoming Lenten season together, may we draw near to God and trust that He will do more than we can
imagine in us and through us.

HUMC Sunday School

January was filled with fun and games in Sunday School, as our theme was Growing Stronger in Faith Every Day! We learned the verse,

"Training the body has some value. But being Godly has value in every way. It promises help for the life you are now living and the life to come."

1 Timothy 4:8.

In February, our focus will shift to "Sharing the Love of Jesus." We continue to enjoy helping our kids grow in their faith and church community.
